Proposal for the Symposium
3rd MUNICH SYMPOSIUM ON MOTIVATION: Beyond Carrots and Sticks: Motivated Behavior in Organizations
The Munich Symposium on Motivation (MSM) is a biannual international symposium organized by the Chair of Psychology, Technische Universität München, Germany.
The symposium will take place from 18 to 21 July, 2012 in the Eibsee-Hotel at Lake Eibsee (http://www.eibsee-hotel.de/rw_e8v/eibsee_e/start/). It is located at the foothills of Mount Zugspitze (2,962m or 9,718 feet), Germany’s highest mountain. Part of the symposium will be held at the summit convention centre, which offers a magnificent view of the Alps (http://www.zugspitze.de/).
The MSM brings together international researchers who work on different aspects of motivation. The title of the 3rd MSM is “Beyond Carrots and Sticks: Motivated Behavior in Organizations”. It includes, but is not limited to, the following topics: managing motivation of self and others within organizational settings; motivational perspectives on leadership; volitional and self-regulatory processes in organizations; motivational impact of reward practices; intrinsic motivation and flow in organizations.
Experts in the field of motivation and organizational behavior will be invited to present and discuss their work. By inviting researchers from different fields within motivation research, we hope to foster interesting and enriching discussions, and to help researchers to extend their networks.
